Costas Douzinas<\/b> is Syriza MP for the Pireas. \u00a0A constituency and Chair of the Standing Committee of Defence and Foreign Affairs. Costas is a Professorof Law and Philosophy, Director of the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities, BirkbeckLondon University and member of the Greek Commission on Human Rights. Costas was the founder of the Birkbeck School of Law, the BirkbeckInstitute for the Humanities and the School of Law of the University of Cyprus. He is the editor of the journal <\/span>Law and Critique<\/span><\/i>and managing editor of <\/span>Birkbeck Law Press.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

His many books, translated in twelve languages, include <\/span>Postmodern Jurisprudence<\/span><\/i>; <\/span>The End of Human Rights<\/span><\/i>; <\/span>Nomos and Aesthetics; Human Rights and Empire;Critical Jurisprudence <\/span><\/i>and<\/span>Resistance and Philosophy in the Crisis <\/span><\/i>and the volumes of essays<\/span> Law and the Image<\/span><\/i>; <\/span>Adieu Derrida,The Idea of Communism, The Cambridge Companion to Human Rights Law<\/span><\/i>and<\/span> The Meaning of Rights.<\/span><\/i> He is frequent contributor to the Guardian and OpenDemocracy and writes a fortnightly column entitled <\/span>Philosophical and Political Current<\/span><\/i>in the Athens <\/span>Newspaper of Journalists<\/span><\/i>.Costas has received many prizes and rewards for his work.<\/span><\/p>\n
